This is Why People Make Fun of PETA

The Fish Empathy Project for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has called on the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach (one of the largest aquariums in the United States) to stop serving fish to its visitors, likening the practice to grilling up "poodle burgers at a dog show."

I'll be the first to admit that I found it odd that the Shedd Aquarium served fish at its restaurant. However, I did not make it a mission to remedy that bit of irony, nor did I deem it necessary to create (or join) something called the Fish Empathy Project. As far as I am concerned, if you have time to form a Fish Empathy Project, than you certainly should be able donate your time to any number of organizations, such as:

FYI, I am really not so hot on PETA anyhow. I agree that cruelty to animals is bad (and I always enjoy viewing naked protesters), but I find it mildly inconsistent to be preached to by someone (a PETA vice president) whose treatments for Type II diabetes were developed using research on dogs.

Thank Goodness for Kiwi Streakers

After reading (I can't actually watch that kind of tripe) Bush's several references to 9/11 in his Iraq policy speech, I snapped. I think it was "They are trying to shake our will in Iraq, just as they tried to shake our will on September 11, 2001. "

Problem with that statement: "they" are not the same people.

Further problem: many, many morons will not care.

Fortunately, a photo of a New Zealand streaker being tackled shook me from my paralyzing frustration. It won't last, but it helped when I needed it.
